Salihu Moh. Lukman, the immediate-past National Vice Chairman, Northwest, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has revealed that he has secured commitments from two former National Chairmen of the party, Bisi Akande and Adams Oshiomhole, to restore the APC to its original vision of progressivism. Lukman, who previously served as the director general of the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF), made this announcement in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday.

Recently, Lukman had a meeting with the current national chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, where he discussed his upcoming book titled "APC and Transition Politics." The book aims to document the party's events and provide solutions to the anti-democratic tendencies that have affected it.

During his meetings with Chief Bisi Akande on September 18 and Adams Oshiomhole on Wednesday, September 28, Lukman discussed various recent developments within the APC. Both Akande and Oshiomhole welcomed Lukman's initiative and expressed concerns about the erosion of democratic practices within the party. They particularly acknowledged the leadership role of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in resisting attempts by some conservative leaders within the party to impose a consensus Presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.
