APC DEEPENING THE WOOS OF NIGERIANS WITH UNREASONABLE INCREASE OF PMS, PDP SLAMS APC.

PDP in a statement issued by Debo Ologunagba the National Publicity Secretary, has critizied the government of the day All Progressives Congress on the recent increase of Premium Motor Spirit also know as fuel to 617 naira

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government for the recent increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as fuel, from N534 to N617 per litre. The PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, issued a statement describing the new price as provocative and extortionate. The party argued that the hike further exacerbated the already challenging economic situation under the APC's leadership.

The PDP asserted that the N617 per litre fuel price was excessive and unacceptable. They believed that the increase could not be justified given the economic potential of the country. The party expressed disappointment that the APC administration seemed to have neglected the welfare of Nigerians, which they believed should be the primary purpose of the government as outlined in the Nigerian Constitution. The PDP accused the government of leaving citizens at the mercy of market forces and exploitative entities, indicating a lack of accountability.

The statement from the PDP criticized the APC's policies, claiming that they were poorly planned and executed, leading to the deterioration of Nigeria's economy. The party cited the depreciation of the national currency, the closure of businesses and production, loss of livelihoods, and rising costs of essential goods and services as evidence of the worsening situation. They attributed these issues to the APC's insensitivity, corruption, cluelessness, and inability to effectively manage the economy.

The PDP rejected the APC's justification for the fuel price hike, particularly their argument of market forces and comparisons with other countries. The party argued that such justifications were invalid because Nigeria lacked functional infrastructure, affordable alternative transportation systems, strong currency, and higher incomes for citizens. They contended that even without petroleum subsidy, fuel should not be priced higher than N150 per litre in Nigeria, given the country's resources, refining capacity, and potential for economic growth.

In summary, the PDP criticized the APC-led government for the recent increase in fuel prices, describing it as excessive, provocative, and unjustifiable. They accused the government of neglecting the welfare of Nigerians and mismanaging the economy, resulting in a worsening economic situation. The party rejected the APC's justifications and called for transparent and innovative management of resources to ensure affordable fuel prices.
