The Igbo Renaissance for Progress, a pressure group with a cultural focus, has accused Mr. Osita Okechukwu, the former Director of Voice of Nigeria, of launching verbal attacks against Imo Governor, Hope Uzodimma. Nze Nwankwo Njoku, the coordinator of the organization, alleged that Okechukwu is still resentful over his loss of a ministerial appointment, which he attributes to the governor.

Njoku claimed that the former VOA helmsman has vowed to use all means at his disposal to undermine Uzodimma. He stated, "Those who read Okechukwu’s virulent attacks on Uzodimma over the Edo debacle would understand that the man has a mission, which is to damage the image of the governor, who is the leader of the APC in the South-East."

Njoku expressed concern that while other critics of the Edo matter focused on the issues, Okechukwu went as far as calling for the removal of Uzodimma as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum. He emphasized that members of his group were alarmed by the vitriolic attacks on Uzodimma by Okechukwu.

Njoku further noted that despite Okechukwu's claims, Uzodimma has used his position as chairman of the Progressive Congress Forum to benefit the Igbo people. He cited the appointment of an Igbo man as Chief of Naval Staff, the dredging of Oguta Lake to the Atlantic Ocean, and other benefits as evidence of Uzodimma's positive impact.

He concluded by stating, "Indeed, Okechukwu should know that APC does not revolve around him. We have more qualified stakeholders who should be respected in Igbo land."
