LUCKY AIYEDATIWA SWORN IN AS GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE, PLEDGES TO UPHOLD AKEREDOLU'S LEGACY

Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the seventh civilian governor of Ondo State, following the passing of Rotimi Akeredolu.

Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the seventh civilian governor of Ondo State by the Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the governor’s office in Akure at precisely 4:15 p.m. Notable figures present at the event included the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, and members of the assembly. Additionally, the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, and the state chairman of the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC), Ade Adetimehin, were in attendance. The ceremony also saw the presence of members of the executive council, political office holders, and other party members.

 

In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his deep sorrow at the passing of Rotimi Akeredolu, describing it as an unfortunate event. He emphasized the profound impact of Akeredolu's death on the people of the state and the nation, offering his condolences to the governor’s family, the traditional ruler of Owo, and the people of the state. Aiyedatiwa also highlighted the significance of Akeredolu's legacy, particularly his role in establishing Amotekun, which has effectively reduced the prevalence of banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the South West region.

 

Governor Aiyedatiwa pledged to continue and complete all ongoing projects initiated by his predecessor, emphasizing Akeredolu's monumental and unprecedented record of performance.
