GOVERNOR HYACINTH ALIA'S ELECTION VICTORY UPHELD BY COURT OF APPEAL IN ABUJA

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has made a significant ruling, affirming the victory of Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State and dismissing the appeal brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Titus Uba.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the victory of Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, dismissing the appeal brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Titus Uba. The PDP and Uba had contested the September 23 judgment of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which had rejected their petition against Alia's election.

Governor Alia ran for office under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and emerged as the winner of the governorship election held on March 18. A three-member panel, delivering a unanimous judgment, addressed the three key issues raised for determination by the appellants, ruling against them. The court concluded that the appeal lacked merit. Further details are expected to follow.
