Edwin Clark Urges INEC to Investigate Alleged Irregularities in Governorship Elections, Calls for Redemption of Commissi

Elder statesman Edwin Clark has called for an investigation into alleged irregularities in the governorship elections held in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi.

Elder statesman Edwin Clark has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate alleged irregularities in the governorship elections held in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi on Saturday. During a courtesy visit by the South-South Diamond Ladies group in Abuja, Clark expressed his disappointment over the discovery of completed result sheets containing names of voters, emphasizing the need for INEC to redeem its image from the fallout of the 2023 general elections. He urged INEC to publicly address the issue and warned that without an effective and honest electoral commission, democracy in Nigeria would be in jeopardy.

Clark also expressed his appreciation to the visiting group and encouraged them to continue participating in the country's affairs for the development of Nigeria. The President of the South-South Diamond Ladies, Victoria Egelege, explained that their association aimed to empower women and children in the Niger Delta region socially, educationally, and economically. They also focused on safeguarding the rights of children and providing support for those exposed to abuse. Egelege commended Clark as a nation-builder who prioritized the interests of all Nigerians, regardless of their geopolitical zones. As a token of their admiration, the group presented Clark with a merit award and bestowed upon him the position of Grand Patron of the organization.
