The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken action against three private jet owners for their involvement in illegal operations, resulting in the suspension of their permits. The NCAA found that these operators had violated the terms of their permits by using their jets for commercial purposes, contrary to regulations.

Acting Director-General of the NCAA, Chris Najomo, announced the suspension of the three private operators on Tuesday. The aviation authority had intensified surveillance on holders of permits for non-commercial flights (PNCF) following numerous reports of their aircraft being used for hire and reward, thus breaching their permits.

In a statement, Najomo emphasized that three private operators had been found to violate the annexure provision of their PNCF and Part 9114 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023. Additionally, Najomo issued a warning to existing Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holders, cautioning against using aircraft listed on their PNCF for commercial charter operations without proper authorization.

Najomo stressed that only aircraft listed in the Operation Specifications of the AOC are permitted for charter services. AOC holders intending to use such aircraft for charter operations must apply to the NCAA to delist the affected aircraft from the PNCF and include it in the AOC operations specification.

Furthermore, the NCAA urged the traveling public to avoid patronizing any airline charter operator lacking a valid Air Operators Certificate issued by the authority. Lastly, legitimate players in the aviation industry were encouraged to promptly report the activities of unscrupulous elements to the NCAA for necessary action.
