Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, is reported to be sharing a cell with male inmates at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, following a six-month prison sentence for naira abuse. The verdict was delivered by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, April 12, 2024, with the aim of serving as a deterrent to others engaging in similar acts of currency abuse and mutilation.

Upon his admission into the Custodial Centre, Bobrisky was treated like any other inmate, according to a top official at the facility who spoke anonymously. The crossdresser underwent a thorough examination, which revealed no realignment of gender or genital organs, affirming his male biological features.

The official explained that Bobrisky was allocated a cell and assigned a bed space like other inmates. He adheres to the rules and routines of the facility, attending classes, meals, and other activities without any special treatment or preference.

Addressing concerns about Bobrisky's safety in the facility, the official emphasized that inmates are not protected from each other, and any form of abuse, including homosexuality, is prohibited and punishable by law. The Custodial Centre maintains strict regulations to prevent outbreaks of communicable diseases and ensure the safety of all inmates.

Rotimi Oladokun, spokesperson for the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), declined to comment on the matter when contacted, stating that he had no further information to provide.
