NETWORK UNIVERSITY CEO ENCOURAGES NIGERIAN GRADUATES TO EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES IN AFRICA

Fadl Al Tarzi, the Chief Executive Officer of Nexford University, has urged Nigerian graduates to broaden their perspectives and consider the potential for success within Africa.

Chief Executive Officer of Nexford University, Fadl Al Tarzi, has advised Nigerian graduates not to view traveling abroad as the only path to success. He believes that Africa has the potential to become the largest supplier of the global workforce in the near future. Al Tarzi expressed confidence in Nigerian students, praising their resilience and dedication to research.

He encouraged graduates to take control of their destinies and forge their own paths with determination and creativity. Al Tarzi emphasized that in this era of remote work, job opportunities are not limited by geographical boundaries. With Africa's youthful population, the continent is poised to be the source of tomorrow's global workforce.

Al Tarzi acknowledged the achievements of Nigerians in the United States, highlighting that they are, on average, twice as educated as the average American. He urged Nigerian graduates to ascend to leadership positions, redefine perceptions, and make their mark on societies, both within Nigeria and beyond its borders. If their journeys take them to foreign lands, Al Tarzi encouraged them to showcase their skills and demonstrate the value of Nigerian talent, becoming ambassadors of Nigerian values.

Nexford Country Director, Oghogho Inneh, emphasized the university's standard e-learning platform and flexibility in learning, distinguishing it from other institutions. The 2023 graduation event of Nexford University featured master classes, a career fair with leading Nigerian companies, a start-up demo, and an exhibition in Lagos State.

During the graduation ceremony, five Nigerian students were recognized and awarded. James Ogo-Oluwa Osinowo emerged as the Valedictorian of the Year for Class 2023. Other awardees included Adeshile Oluwabusayo for Best Peer Mentor in the BBA (Undergraduate Degree) category, Monsuru Adebayo Popoola for Best Peer Mentor in the MBA (Graduate Degree) category, Daniel Oreofe for Outstanding Volunteer of the Year, and Sonter Samuel James for Outstanding Brand Ambassador.

The start-up pitches and exhibition featured expert guidance from seasoned professionals such as Iyin Aboyeji of Future Africa and Napa Onwusah, Leader for AWS Startups in Africa. The master class sessions focused on topics such as building and scaling a startup, designing a fulfilling career, becoming globally relevant, sales skills for founders, and succeeding in a remote job environment.

Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, a former Minister of Education and board member of Nexford University, highlighted the role of academic institutions like Nexford in addressing Nigeria's human capital deficiencies. She emphasized the importance of institutions that provide the necessary skills for the 21st century to achieve inclusive prosperity.

In his keynote address, Tonye Cole, Co-founder and former Group Executive Director of Sahara Group, encouraged the graduates to expect challenges as they enter the next phase of their lives. He urged them not to fear failure but to embrace it as a learning opportunity. Cole emphasized the importance of seeking wisdom to guide their steps and to remain focused on their goals, as every success story has its own challenges to overcome.
