GOVERNOR AKERELODU URGES NIGERIANS TO UNITE IN OVERCOMING CHALLENGES AND ACHIEVING ECONOMIC GREATNESS

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has called on Nigerians to come together and address the challenges facing the country, emphasizing that Nigeria has no excuse not to achieve economic greatness with its large population.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has emphasized that Nigeria, with its population of over 200 million people, has no excuse not to achieve greatness in terms of economic performance. During the Jumat Service held at the Central Mosque in Akure to commemorate the nation's 63rd independence anniversary, Akeredolu called on Nigerians to unite in addressing the numerous challenges facing the country. He expressed confidence that all the challenges can be overcome.

Represented by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Raimi Aminu, Governor Akeredolu urged Nigerians to cooperate with the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to solve the country's problems and bring relief to the entire population. He highlighted the efforts being made by the Tinubu-led administration to deliver the dividends of democracy and improve the well-being of Nigerians, with the ultimate goal of making the country a source of pride.

Akeredolu stressed the need to build a strong and prosperous economy that would generate progress and dignity for the nation. He emphasized that achieving this goal requires hard work, enterprise, peace, creativity, and a commitment to defending the country.

The governor mentioned that his administration has implemented certain palliative measures to mitigate the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government. Additionally, the state government has decided to provide farm inputs to farmers to boost food production, and registration and consultancy fees have been waived in government hospitals across the state.

Governor Akeredolu assured the people of Ondo State that his government will spare no effort in improving their lives. He called on citizens to shun evil and defend the state.

During the Jumat Service, the Chief Imam of the state, Sheikh Abdulhakeem Yayi Akorede, urged the Tinubu-led government to address the country's economic challenges and improve infrastructure to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians. He expressed confidence in Tinubu's agenda to tackle the multifaceted problems facing the nation, describing the president as a receptive leader.

The Chief Imam appealed to those challenging the president's victory in the election tribunal to withdraw their lawsuits, allowing the government to focus on providing security and creating an enabling environment for Nigerians to thrive. He also called on the state governor to reconcile with his deputy, Mr. Lucky Ayedatiwa, for the progress of the state, noting that the governor's absence has hindered development.

The Chief Imam commended the state government for reintroducing the school-free shuttle scheme, which will help alleviate transportation costs for students in the state.
