Passing of Retired Justice Ahmad Belgore Mourned by Legal and Community Leaders

The passing of retired Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, formerly of the Court of Appeal, has elicited expressions of grief from legal and community leaders in Nigeria.

Retired Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, formerly of the Court of Appeal, has passed away. The Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, Kamaldeen Gambari, announced his death on Tuesday. Gambari conveyed the news via a social media post, extending prayers for forgiveness for the departed justice. Belgore concluded his tenure as a Justice of the Court of Appeal on April 18, 2023, upon reaching the retirement age of 70. His passing has prompted expressions of grief from various quarters, including the Emir of Ilorin. In a statement delivered by his spokesman, Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir described Belgore's demise as a significant loss to the Ilorin Emirate and humanity as a whole.

 

The Emir praised Belgore as a distinguished gentleman and an exemplary judicial officer who served the nation diligently in various capacities, both nationally and internationally. He highlighted Belgore's pivotal role in advancing the judiciary and contributing to societal development. The Emir extended his condolences to Belgore's immediate and extended family, as well as to the entire community of Ilorin and Nigerians nationwide.
