The Niger State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Fatima Adamu, has highlighted insecurity as a major obstacle to the promotion of tourism sites in the state. Speaking during the 2023 World Tourism Day celebration, she emphasized that there are tourism sites in various Local Government Areas that could have been developed as attractions but are hindered by insecurity.

Adamu expressed that tourism has the potential to generate significant revenue for the state, but the activities of bandits and other security challenges are preventing its progress. She specifically mentioned the Kwangugari site, which houses the Gadan Allah, as an example of a location that could have been a tourism site accessible to everyone but is now inaccessible due to insecurity.

Despite these challenges, Adamu acknowledged the efforts of the state government in addressing the issue of insecurity and ensuring the smooth operation of tourism activities. She expressed her commitment to activating all tourism sites in Niger State and invited investors to explore opportunities in the state's tourism sector.

Adamu also highlighted some of the existing tourist sites in Niger State, including Zuma Rock, Gurara Falls, Shagunu Beach, Dutse Malolo, and Gada Allah. She emphasized the need to raise awareness and promote these sites to attract visitors.

The state's deputy governor, represented by the commissioner for Transport, Ladidi Kuta, also expressed the government's commitment to developing the tourism sector. She mentioned plans to collaborate with development partners to open up more tourism attractions in the state, signaling a renewed focus on tourism development in Niger State.
