Student Accuses Lecturer of Extortion and Graduation Obstruction at Oduduwa Polytechnic

A student at Oduduwa Polytechnic in Ile-Ife, Jesulayomi Adedini, has accused her lecturer, Ogunjana Adeolu, of extortion and obstructing her graduation. Adedini, a Tourism and Hospitality student, alleges that Adeolu, the Head of the Department, is intentionally withholding her final year

A student from Oduduwa Polytechnic, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Jesulayomi Adedini, has alleged that a lecturer at the institution, Ogunjana Adeolu, is attempting to extort money from her and prevent her from graduating.

Our investigation revealed that Adedini completed her final National Diploma exams from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at the Polytechnic in July 2023. Adeolu, who is said to be the Head of the Department for the same course, claimed in a phone interview that he was not responsible for the student's delayed results. However, Adedini asserts that the lecturer's refusal to approve her final year project is an attempt to keep her in school despite her payment of N46,500 for the project.

Adedini expressed her frustration, stating, "I finished my National Diploma last June. He (Adeolu) has refused to release my results and projects. He said he would continue to delay them until I pay him more money."

Despite Adeolu's denial of responsibility for the delayed results, Adedini remains adamant in her accusations. She has shared her story in the hope of shedding light on the alleged extortionate practices within the institution and urging authorities to investigate the matter further.
