Tragic Death Sparks Unrest in Eto Baba Community: Allegations of Torture by Employer Lead to Fatal Consequences

The Eto Baba community in Plateau State, Nigeria, was recently rocked by tragedy as a young man lost his life under alarming circumstances.

In the Eto Baba community of the Jos North local government area in Plateau State, a young man has tragically died following an alleged torture by his employer. Reports indicate that the deceased, who worked as a security guard at a poultry farm, was accused of stealing eggs by his employer. Attempting to coerce a confession from him, the employer subjected him to torture, resulting in the victim collapsing and subsequently dying.

Upon learning of the incident, local youths mobilized and set fire to the property belonging to the employer, who managed to escape with her family members. The State Police Command, represented by Police Spokesman DSP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations were ongoing. He assured that the true situation would be revealed once the DPO concludes the investigation.

Residents of Eto Baba, Margaret Emmanuel and Philomena Yakubu, recounted the events and confirmed that security personnel were present in the community to restore calm. Margaret described witnessing smoke and chaos in the morning, with people running and carrying chickens. She explained that the employer accused the security guard of theft, leading to a fatal altercation.

Philomena corroborated Margaret's account, adding that the employer allegedly beat the security guard to death. Enraged by the news, residents rushed to the scene, only to find that the employer and her family had fled. Subsequently, they vandalized and set fire to the employer's property, including her house and the poultry farm.

Currently, security personnel are deployed throughout the area, from Eto Baba to Angwan Rukuba, to maintain peace and order while residents attempt to resume their normal activities.
