Barcelona Midfielder Frenkie de Jong Set to Miss Up to Five Weeks with Ankle Injury

The Dutch international was forced to leave the field during Barcelona's recent victory over Celta Vigo in La Liga. Barcelona has confirmed the injury but has not provided specific details about the expected duration of De Jong's absence.

According to Spanish reports on Saturday, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is expected to be sidelined for up to five weeks due to an ankle injury. The Dutch international was forced off the pitch during the first half of Barcelona's 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo in La Liga.

Barcelona released a statement confirming that De Jong had injured his right ankle during the game. However, they did not provide specific details regarding the length of his anticipated absence from the team.

As a result of this injury, De Jong is likely to miss several upcoming matches, including Barcelona's Champions League encounter against Porto on October 4. Additionally, there is a possibility that he may not be available for the highly anticipated Clasico clash against Real Madrid in La Liga, scheduled for October 28.

In addition to De Jong's injury, Barcelona is also awaiting the recovery of midfielder Pedri, who is currently dealing with a thigh injury. On a positive note, center-back Ronald Araujo made his return from a hamstring problem during the match against Celta Vigo, coming on as a substitute.
