Armed Bandits Intercept Luxury Bus, Rob Passengers, and Set it Ablaze in Ogun State

In a shocking incident, armed bandits intercepted an Abakaliki-bound luxury bus in Ogun State, Nigeria, robbing all passengers and setting the bus ablaze.

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed a distressing incident where armed bandits intercepted an Abakaliki-bound luxury bus on Friday night, robbed all passengers, and subsequently set the bus on fire. The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, verified the occurrence through her social media platform, revealing that the incident took place at Oke Ado junction in Ijebu Mushin on the Ijebu Ode-Ore-Benin expressway. The targeted vehicle, a luxury bus (Mercedes Benz), was traveling from Maza Maza when it fell prey to the hoodlums. Odutola clarified that the armed bandits, armed with cutlasses, made no mention of firearms during the encounter.

Reports indicate that the audacious robbers first stripped all 59 occupants of the bus of their belongings before locking the vehicle from the outside and setting it ablaze. Fortunately, the passengers managed to break the glass windows and escape from the bus before it was engulfed in flames.

The management of Ifesinachi Transport Nig. Ltd corroborated the incident, confirming that the attacked bus belonged to the company. The bus had departed from Maza Maza, Lagos, on Good Friday, bound for Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The management expressed shock over the ordeal faced by the passengers.

In a distressing video shared on social media by influencer Chude Nnamdi, survivors recounted the harrowing experience they endured. One passenger lamented the attack, narrating how they were traveling back to the East for Easter celebration when criminals ambushed them along the Ore/Benin expressway in Ijebu Ode.

Survivors described how the armed bandits, wielding weapons and instilling fear, robbed them of their belongings and subjected them to a terrifying ordeal. Some passengers were stripped half-naked, and all were locked inside the bus, which was then set ablaze by the perpetrators.

Despite the traumatic experience, survivors expressed gratitude to God that no lives were lost in the inferno. However, they lamented the loss of all their possessions and the injuries sustained during the robbery. Stranded since the early hours of Saturday morning, the victims recounted the ordeal and awaited assistance.
