Nigerian Army Operations: Dismantling Terrorist Strongholds and Intercepting Illicit Goods

In recent military actions, troops of the Nigerian Army have conducted operations in Zamfara, Katsina, Ebonyi, and Ogun states, targeting terrorist strongholds and criminal activities.

Troops of the Nigerian Army conducted separate operations in Zamfara and Katsina states, resulting in the elimination of at least 11 terrorists. The operations targeted terrorist kingpin enclaves in the states, aiming to dismantle their strongholds.

In Zamfara, a raid was carried out on the hideout of terrorist leader Hassan Yantagwaye in the Tsafe Local Government Area. This operation led to a fierce gun battle, during which two of Yantagwaye's men were killed. The troops successfully neutralized the terrorists and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition, in addition to destroying the terrorists' camps.

Similarly, in Katsina State, troops engaged in a fierce gun battle with terrorists in multiple locations within the Faskari Local Government Area. This encounter resulted in the death of eight terrorists and the recovery of three locally-fabricated guns, military uniforms, and a large quantity of stolen grains.

Additionally, troops conducted operations in Ebonyi and Ogun states, targeting armed militias and intercepting illicit drugs. In Ebonyi, troops encountered armed Effium militias and successfully captured one of the militias after engaging in combat. They also recovered an AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of ammunition. In Ogun State, troops intercepted 441 wraps of suspected Cannabis Sativa at Molegede village in the Odeda Local Government Area. The smugglers abandoned the vehicle transporting the illicit substances upon sighting the troops.

The Nigerian Army's proactive operations demonstrate their commitment to combating terrorism and criminal activities across various regions of the country, with a focus on dismantling terrorist networks and intercepting illicit goods.
