In Okhun Community, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, three members of the Edo State Security Network were shot dead by unknown gunmen on Thursday night. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of over 10 hoodlums invaded the community and targeted the victims who were on duty at the time.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with some eyewitnesses suggesting it may be connected to a leadership dispute within the community, while others suspect it could be a reprisal attack related to cult activities.

A member of the Emergency Social Safety Net, known as 'commander Small Baba,' confirmed the incident in a viral video. He stated that upon receiving information about the hoodlums shooting sporadically in Okhun Community, they took immediate action. However, they were attacked by the hoodlums, resulting in the death of three of his men. Commander Small Baba himself sustained a gunshot wound on his right hand but managed to escape.

It is worth noting that Okhun Community has recently experienced violence, with two individuals being killed. This incident escalated into a cult war in Benin, where at least 10 people lost their lives. The connection between these previous incidents and the recent attack on the security network members is yet to be determined.
