NNPCL Denies Reduction in Fuel Prices Amidst Social Media Claims

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has rebutted claims circulating on social media regarding a purported reduction in the pump prices of petrol and diesel.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has refuted claims suggesting a reduction in the pump prices of petrol and diesel. In a statement, the spokesperson for NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, dismissed these claims as false and urged Nigerians to disregard them.

Various posts circulating on social media platforms on Tuesday and Wednesday had purported that NNPCL had lowered the pump price of petrol to below N600 and diesel below N900. However, the company clarified that these reports were inaccurate and advised the public to ignore them completely.

NNPCL reiterated its commitment to maintaining the current sufficiency in petroleum product supply across all its retail stations nationwide. The firm emphasized its dedication to ensuring continued availability of fuel products to meet the needs of consumers.

Following the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, the pump price of petrol soared, reaching over N600 from approximately N200 during the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
