David Hundeyin a Nigerian, a journalist who enter Zimbabwe with a document that ordinarily is free visa has been arrested and detained in a small store without window for hours for not having visa. He was arrested alongside with a lady from Uganda.

David Hundeyin, a Nigerian investigative journalist and activist, has been apprehended by the Zimbabwean government at Harare Airport. According to Hundeyin's own account shared on Twitter, he was held inside a malodorous locked room for nearly seven hours. The reason cited by the Zimbabwean authorities for his detention was the requirement for a visa to enter the country.

As of the current press time, Hundeyin remains in detention, and he expressed his distress over the situation. Despite holding a travel document from a country with a visa-free agreement, the Zimbabwean government insisted that he needed a visa because of his Nigerian nationality.

Hundeyin described the conditions of his confinement, stating that he and another lady from Uganda, who also came from a visa-free country, were kept in a tiny windowless room without access to a toilet. He also mentioned finding a bottle of urine on the floor, indicating the lack of proper facilities.

The journalist expressed frustration over the lack of communication and organization, stating that he hadn't received any updates for several hours. Although his return flight to Addis Ababa had been rescheduled for the same night, he feared missing it due to his ongoing detention.

Hundeyin conveyed a strong desire to leave Zimbabwe and never return, emphasizing that he simply wants to go back home. He made a plea to the person in charge to release him promptly so that he can continue his journey and expressed no interest in visiting Zimbabwe again.
