Thomas Partey Withdraws from Ghana Squad Due to Ongoing Injury Recovery

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has pulled out of the Ghana squad ahead of their clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has withdrawn from the Ghana squad set to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly scheduled for Friday. Partey's absence from the squad is attributed to his ongoing recovery from an injury, which has prevented him from featuring for the Gunners since the start of the year.

The 30-year-old sustained a groin injury in November 2023, leading to the necessity of undergoing surgery to address the issue. Despite expectations of a return to action in early February, Partey encountered a setback with the same injury, prolonging his recovery period.

As a result of his injury woes, Partey has only managed to play 276 minutes of Premier League football in the current season. Despite being initially called up by the Black Stars for their upcoming friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda, Partey has opted to excuse himself from international duty as he continues to work towards regaining full fitness.
