UNABLE TO TAKE ACTION ON PETITION BY LATE SINGER MOHBAD, SAYS LAGOS POLICE ANNEX

The Lagos Annex of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Nigeria has revealed that they were unable to take action on a petition submitted by the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as MohBad.

The Lagos Annex of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Nigeria has revealed that they were unable to take action on a petition submitted by the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as MohBad. According to the police, MohBad did not show up to defend his petition, and without his cooperation, they were unable to proceed with the case. The police had invited music promoter Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry, and others mentioned in the petition for questioning.

In an interview, the spokesperson for the FCID Annex explained that MohBad failed to appear at the police station to support his allegations and provide evidence. The initial petition by MohBad detailed alleged threats to his life, assault, and destruction of equipment during a video shoot. He claimed that Sam Larry and 15 others armed individuals stormed the venue and threatened to cause havoc. MohBad further stated that they destroyed equipment worth over N5 million and assaulted him before he managed to escape with injuries.

However, the police spokesperson revealed that MohBad's refusal to defend his petition led to a lawyer representing Sam Larry and the other suspects filing a counter-petition against MohBad, accusing him of defamation of character. Despite the police's efforts to contact MohBad, he never showed up, leaving them with no choice but to halt the investigation.

The police emphasized that they followed up on the information provided in MohBad's petition and invited the suspects for questioning. Sam Larry and the others cooperated and provided their statements. The police even reached out to MohBad on several occasions, but he consistently failed to appear. As a result, the police were unable to carry out a proper investigation and forward the case file to the legal department for potential prosecution.

The FCID Annex spokesperson clarified that the police could not take action if a petitioner refused to defend their petition and provide evidence to support their claims. In this case, MohBad's absence hindered the investigation, and the police were unable to proceed without his cooperation. The spokesperson assured the public that the police were committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation into MohBad's death. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police has been assigned to unravel the circumstances surrounding his demise.

The police urged family members or close associates with valuable information to approach the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to assist in the investigation. They also requested that individuals refrain from making statements or engaging in activities that could jeopardize the ongoing investigation. The police emphasized the importance of trust and support from the public during this process.
