Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou: The Heavyweight Clash in Riyadh

In anticipation of the heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou in Riyadh, Joshua, a former world champion, likened himself to a "postman" ready to deliver victory.

Former world champion Anthony Joshua sees himself as a "postman" ready to deliver victory against Francis Ngannou in their heavyweight clash scheduled for Friday in Riyadh. Joshua weighed in at 114.48kg (18st 02lbs) on Thursday, while his Cameroonian opponent, a former UFC heavyweight champion, weighed almost two stones heavier.

Ex-Mixed Martial Arts star Ngannou tipped the scales at 123.64kg (19st 47lbs), slightly more than when he fought Tyson Fury in October, marking his first professional boxing bout. Despite the weight difference, Joshua exuded confidence at the weigh-in, declaring, "Official prediction? I deliver — I am the postman."

Ngannou, three years older than Joshua, is seen as the sentimental favorite to win Friday's clash, dubbed "Knockout Chaos." His journey from working in a sand quarry for meager pay to becoming a professional athlete in France has captured hearts. In his October bout against Fury, Ngannou impressed by sending the world champion to the canvas in the third round, albeit losing on a split decision.

Reflecting on his previous fight and preparation for the current bout, Ngannou mentioned learning from past experiences while maintaining a steadfast mindset. Despite being considered the underdog, he is determined to prove himself against Joshua and demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity.

The winner of the Joshua-Ngannou bout is anticipated to contend with either Fury or Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight title. With the fight set to take place in Saudi Arabia on May 18, both contenders have their eyes on future opportunities in the heavyweight division.

Ngannou expressed confidence in his abilities, suggesting that if the bout were under MMA rules, he would emerge victorious. Asserting his dominance, he stated his willingness to face multiple opponents simultaneously, emphasizing his readiness to take on any challenge in the ring.
