Minister Mohammed Idris Stresses Unity and Progress Amidst Challenges in Nigeria

In a speech delivered at the Leadership Annual Conference and Award 2023 in Abuja, Minister Mohammed Idris addressed the perception surrounding Nigeria's acceptance of grains from Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of international cooperation.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, addressed the perception that accepting grains from Ukraine does not signify Nigeria's status as a failed country. Speaking at the Leadership Annual Conference and Award 2023 in Abuja, Idris emphasized the normalcy of countries depending on each other for support, citing Egypt's reliance on Ukraine for 60% of its grains.

He dismissed the notion that Nigeria is a failed state due to current challenges, asserting that accepting assistance from Ukraine is a routine occurrence in international relations. Idris underscored the need for countries to collaborate and support each other amidst crises.

Idris highlighted President Bola Tinubu's awareness of Nigeria's challenges and his efforts to address them. He pointed out that Nigerians elected Tinubu based on their confidence in his ability to effect positive change. Idris commended Tinubu's decisions to tackle issues such as fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange management, noting that these measures are aimed at positioning Nigeria favorably in the global community.

Regarding fuel subsidy removal, Idris described it as a bold step in the right direction and urged Nigerians to stand behind the president as the country transitions toward reaping the benefits of these policies. He lauded Tinubu's efforts in attracting over $30 billion in foreign investments and his recent trip to Qatar to further bolster Nigeria's economic prospects.

Idris expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger under Tinubu's leadership. He reassured the public that the government is actively working to improve the country's economic growth and overall well-being.
