Former Super Falcons goalkeeper, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni, has sadly passed away after a valiant eight-year battle with cancer.

Former Super Falcons goalkeeper, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni, has passed away after an eight-year battle with cancer. The Nigerian Football Federation announced her death via its official Twitter account, @thenff, late Saturday night. Expressing sadness, the NFF conveyed condolences to her family and prayed for her soul to rest in peace.

 

During her tenure as a goalkeeper for the Super Falcons, Aluko-Olaseni exhibited remarkable skills. She also made significant contributions to teams such as Rivers Angels and Sunshine Queens.

 

Aluko-Olaseni's cancer journey began in 2017 while she was still playing for Rivers Angels in the Nigerian Women's Premier League. According to a report by PUNCH Online in 2019, she underwent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation after the cancer was detected. Unfortunately, the ailment forced her to retire from football. She disclosed that she needed approximately N5 million for treatment in Nigeria.

 

Despite her health challenges, Aluko-Olaseni remained resilient and fought against cancer for eight years. Her passing marks the end of a courageous battle, leaving behind memories of her talent and dedication on the field.
