Rising Noodle Prices Prompt Shift in Dietary Choices Among FCT Residents

Amidst the Federal Capital Territory's (FCT) rising cost of noodles, some parents have opted to remove this staple from their household menus.

Some parents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) expressed their decision to remove noodles from their household menu due to its increasing price. In interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, they cited the affordability issue, prompting them to seek alternatives for their children's fast food.

Hajiya Hauwa Bakari, a mother and teacher, mentioned that she used to prepare noodles for her children to take to school and Islamic school. However, the recent price hike led her to opt for other available food in the house, considering the significant increase in the cost of noodles.

Mrs. Kemi Samuel, a mother of four, shared her decision to exclude noodles from her grocery list, deeming it wasteful and unnecessary due to its high cost. She preferred cooking spaghetti with vegetables, considering it a more economical and nutritious option for her family.

Despite the rising prices, Miss Rose Yakubu, a student, expressed her determination to continue eating noodles, citing its convenience and simplicity. She believed that noodles saved her from purchasing additional ingredients for cooking other meals, making it a practical choice for her.

Mr. Shefiyu Abubakar, a shop owner, acknowledged a decline in the demand for noodles due to its increased price. He noted that many customers now prefer other food items, attributing the shift to both the price surge and inflation in the country. Abubakar expressed hope for a decrease in food prices to alleviate the financial strain on consumers.
