The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two individuals posing as soldiers who allegedly threatened to kill a man during a fight. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Wednesday, stating that the suspects have been in police custody since Monday.

Hundeyin explained that the Isolo Police Division received information about a disturbance at Aina Street, Isolo area of Lagos around 10:30 p.m. on Monday. In response, a patrol team was promptly dispatched to the location to restore order.

Upon arrival at the scene, the officers found Ben Okafor, who claimed to be a Corporal in the Nigerian Army, wielding a jack knife alongside Darlinton Ihenacho. The two men were engaged in a physical altercation with a man named Oludotun, who subsequently reported the incident to the police, alleging that a soldier was pursuing him with a jack knife and threatening his life.

Following the arrest and search of the suspects, law enforcement recovered a fake Nigerian Army Identity Card bearing the name Cpl. Geoffrey Emmanuel with serial number 140861, a jack knife, and pepper spray from the individuals. Hundeyin stated that the suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded.
