Fatal Accident on Ore/Lagos Expressway Prompts Safety Concerns for Passenger Transportation

The fatal accident on the Ore/Lagos expressway involving a luxurious bus traveling from Port Harcourt to Lagos has raised concerns about passenger safety.

Tragedy struck on Saturday along the Ore/Lagos expressway as a luxurious bus traveling from Port Harcourt to Lagos was involved in a fatal accident, resulting in the confirmed deaths of four passengers and injuries to 10 others. The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. at a stepdown area in Ore, Ondo State. Funmi Odunlami, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed that it was a lone accident involving a Chisco Company luxurious bus marked KSF 93 ... ... ... YG.

Odunlami stated that the passengers were swiftly taken to Grace of God hospital by the police, where four individuals were tragically pronounced dead, and their remains were deposited at the hospital mortuary. Meanwhile, the ten injured individuals are currently receiving treatment. The spokesperson revealed that the accident was a result of the driver losing control of the vehicle at the stepdown area of Ore, causing it to veer into a ditch.

In light of this unfortunate incident, Odunlami extended the command's sympathies to the families of the deceased and urged transportation companies to be vigilant in assessing the physical and mental fitness of their drivers before engaging them in passenger transportation. This cautionary advice serves as a reminder of the critical role that driver well-being plays in ensuring passenger safety.
