The Vice-President, Mr. Kashim Shettima, expressed his gratitude for the judgment delivered by the Presidential Election Petition Court, seeing it as a testament to the trust Nigerians have in President Bola Tinubu and his administration. Shettima made these remarks while speaking to reporters immediately after the 5-member panel of justices, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, upheld Tinubu's election as president.

He acknowledged the dedication of various party members, including the energetic chairman, national secretary, members of the national assembly, and ministers, who had been present since early morning. Shettima emphasized their indebtedness to the Nigerian people, indicating that President Tinubu would issue a formal statement in due time.

Shettima called for unity among Nigerians, stating that their common bonds should override any divisions they may have. He highlighted the significance of Nigeria's role in global growth and urged the nation to address its shared challenges.

He commended the Nigerian judiciary for upholding justice and fairness, seeing the court's decision as a triumph of democracy over misinformation and disinformation. Shettima emphasized the importance of discernment in the age of information and the unity of the nation.

Shettima addressed the question of fulfilling campaign promises, particularly concerning political opponents like Atiku Abubakar, with humor and respect. He acknowledged Atiku's status as an elder statesman and expressed a willingness to tap into his experience for the benefit of the nation.

Governors and top government officials, including Governors Yahaya Bello of Kogi and Hope Uzodinma of Imo, were present in court to witness the judgment, sitting through the lengthy proceedings until the final decision was delivered late in the evening.
