Deadly Attack on Okigwe Correctional Farm Settlement: Response and Pursuit of Justice

The Okigwe Correctional Farm Settlement in Imo State, Nigeria, was the site of a violent attack by gunmen, resulting in the tragic death of a police inspector and the escape of seven inmates.

Gunmen launched a deadly attack on the Okigwe Correctional Farm Settlement in Umualomoke, Okigwe, Imo State, resulting in the death of a police inspector and the release of seven inmates. The assailants also targeted the residence of Senator Patrick Ndubeze in Okigwe and abducted the officer in charge of the farm settlement.

The Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) have been implicated in the assault, which took place early Monday. In response, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, swiftly ordered the immediate deployment of the command’s Special Tactical Squad to collaborate with the military and other security agencies to apprehend the suspected IPOB/ESN members.

Commissioner Danjuma emphasized the rescue of the abducted officer and the apprehension of the escaped inmates, ensuring they face the full force of the law. He personally visited Okigwe to assess the situation and directed the special tactical squad to redouble their efforts in securing the safe return of the officer and bringing the fugitive inmates to justice.
