Access Bank's Response to Reports of Helicopter Crash Involving CEO

In light of recent reports surrounding a helicopter crash involving Herbert Wigwe, the CEO of Access Holdings Plc, the company has released a statement expressing its current lack of specific information regarding the incident.

Access Holdings Plc has stated that it currently lacks specific information regarding a helicopter crash in the United States, which reportedly involved its Chief Executive Officer, Herbert Wigwe. The company emphasized that it is working in collaboration with US authorities, who are expected to provide updates on the matter. This position was communicated through a post labeled "Important announcement" on the company's official Instagram handle, @myaccessbank.

Reports emerged on Saturday indicating that Wigwe was feared dead following a helicopter crash on Friday night near the California-Nevada border in the US. There were also unconfirmed reports suggesting that Wigwe's wife and son were onboard the ill-fated helicopter. Despite the absence of official confirmation from Wigwe's family or the company, several prominent Nigerians, including Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, among others, have publicly expressed their condolences.

In response to these developments, Access Bank, without mentioning Wigwe's name, issued a statement on its social media handle. The statement addressed the numerous inquiries the bank had received regarding an airplane crash in the USA.
