Following their victory over the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, Vice President Kashim Shettima met with the Super Eagles and assured them of the Federal Government's intention to reward their "commitment and dedication." The Super Eagles made this disclosure in a statement and accompanying photos posted on their official social media handle early on Thursday. The statement conveyed the government's pledge to recognize the team's efforts in reaching the final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

During the meeting, Vice President Kashim Shettima, accompanied by Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun and Duoye Diri of Bayelsa, Minister for Youths Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, oil mogul Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council member Amaju Pinnick, and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, expressed the pride of the government and people of Nigeria in the team's achievement. The Vice President conveyed this message to the players and officials in the dressing room following their hard-fought victory over South Africa in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles secured their place in the tournament's final after defeating Bafana Bafana of South Africa 4-2 on penalties. It's worth noting that Nigeria holds the record for the highest number of appearances at the AFCON semi-finals, having participated 15 times.
