Mr. James Sule, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, has emphasized the commitment of the Federal Government to strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and China. This statement was made during the Chinese New Year Temple Fair in Abuja, where he conveyed his goodwill message. Represented by his special adviser, Aisha Bello, Sule pledged the ministry's dedication to nurturing the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and China, which spans over fifty years. He also expressed gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria for their consistent support to the country and the ministry.

 

Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, the President of the World Crafts Council (African Region), highlighted the significant impact of Chinese human capital development programs on Nigeria's cultural sector. He emphasized the potential for Nigeria to develop its heritage sites, similar to the Chinese Temple Fair, into recreational, religious, and commercial destinations. Runsewe underscored Nigeria's rich cultural heritage and its potential for economic development, drawing parallels between the cultural diversity of both nations and the economic opportunities it presents.

 

Cui Jianchun, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, spoke about the symbolism of the year of the Dragon for both China and Nigeria. He emphasized the shared values of development, revitalization post-COVID-19, assistance, guidance, opportunity, and nationalism between the two countries. The ambassador expressed China's commitment to supporting Nigeria and building a shared community for both nations. He stressed the importance of learning from each other and working together to achieve progress and unity.
