On Friday, the Nigerian Airforce conducted a series of air strikes near Arina Woje, located in the Southern Tumbuns near Lake Chad, a known hideout for terrorists in Borno state. These strikes resulted in the elimination of many terrorists, with several of their associates sustaining injuries. The operation aimed to target and disrupt terrorist activities in the region.

Simultaneously, the Nigerian Airforce carried out air strikes against militants and oil thieves, with the goal of preventing criminal elements from causing harm to innocent civilians, the environment, and the economy. These operations were part of broader efforts to maintain security and stability in the affected areas.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of NAF Public Relations and Information, emphasized that credible intelligence had indicated the continued use of the Arina Woje location by terrorists for storing weapons and logistics. As a result, approval was granted for the air strikes, which were deemed highly successful based on visible signs of destruction and feedback from local residents near the area.

Gabkwet noted that the area had previously been targeted in a successful operation on June 13, 2023. However, some terrorists, feeling pressure in other regions, were returning to the location for cover. Consequently, the Nigerian Airforce remained committed to conducting further operations to combat these threats.

Additionally, several air strikes were conducted in the Niger Delta area of the country, specifically in Bille, a rural community in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State. This region had gained notoriety for numerous illegal oil refining activities. The air strikes aimed to deter and dismantle the activities of oil thieves, which had detrimental effects on both the environment and the nation's economy. These strikes were deemed successful in achieving their objectives.

The statement concluded by emphasizing the ongoing commitment to conducting air strikes in troubled areas and regions known for illegal criminal activities. These operations would be coordinated with other security and government agencies to reduce criminal activities to a minimum level.
