SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCER 'UNTOUCHABLES' APOLOGISES TO ENUGU STATE GOVERNOR OVER MISINFORMED VIDEO

In recent news, Chibuike Gabriel Ugwu, popularly known as "Untouchable," a well-known social media influencer, has publicly apologized to the governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, for a video he released over the weekend.

Chibuike Gabriel Ugwu, also known as "Untouchable," a prominent social media influencer, has issued an apology to the governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, following the circulation of a video over the weekend in which he alleged that the Enugu State Government was carrying out a large-scale demolition of completed houses at the Enugu Lifestyle and Golf City, also referred to as Enugu Centenary City. In the apology video, Ugwu was accompanied by two of his friends, who are also content creators. He expressed that he had been misinformed and had acted impulsively.

In the brief video released on Sunday morning, Ugwu stated, "Information that reached me this morning made me realize that I had misunderstood the situation at the Enugu Centenary City. They have now explained to me the actual circumstances, which are quite complex. I now have a better understanding. I wrongly accused the governor, and I sincerely ask him not to be upset. I was misinformed and my emotions got the better of me. I was driven by fear and emotion, especially considering that this property is my only house, which led me to make the initial video. Therefore, I want to quickly retract my earlier video. My governor, I humbly ask for your forgiveness."

Ugwu's video aligns with the statement made by the Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA), Hon. Uche Anya, on Saturday, disavowing the initial video. Anya clarified that despite the expiration of the deadline given to property developers at the extensive land situated in Amechi Awkunanaw-Obeagu communities in October 2023 to regularize their properties, the ECTDA had not demolished any completed or occupied property. This was to allow developers ample time to present their title documents and building approvals.

Anya emphasized the Authority's refusal to yield to what he described as "blackmail" in its commitment to eradicating the activities of illegal property developers and land grabbers, while safeguarding the rights and interests of investors. He stated, "At ECTDA, we adhere to the rule of law. Therefore, the Capital Territory Development Authority is resolute in thwarting any attempts to unlawfully seize land or encroach, actions that could jeopardize investors' interests in the state or deter them altogether."
