The 6 Division, Nigeria Army, Port Harcourt, has made a significant discovery in Odagwa Etche, uncovering 14 crude oil reservoirs containing approximately three million liters of stolen crude in the area. Additionally, the Army found 49 boilers used in refining the stolen crude, which is then transported out through various channels.

Maj-Gen. Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Nigeria Army, Port Harcourt, personally led journalists to the scene to showcase the situation and ensure that Nigerians are aware of what is happening. Abdusalam revealed that credible intelligence led the division to discover the 14 reservoirs, each containing upwards of about 200,000 liters of crude oil, within the forest.

The suspects had constructed various tanks and used hoses and cables to connect crude oil from abandoned wellheads in the area. Abdusalam emphasized the magnitude of the discovery, stating that the amount of crude oil found in the reservoirs exceeded Nigeria's daily crude oil export. He expressed concern over the situation and highlighted the impact of any drop in crude oil production on the country.

Furthermore, Abdusalam noted that while some arrests had been made, those apprehended were not the major players in the illegal business but rather individuals involved in transporting the stolen oil. He stressed that the Army's efforts were aimed at ensuring that the government receives what is rightfully due to it and highlighted the need for public awareness about the consequences of such illegal activities on the country's economy.
