JIM RATCLIFFE'S PLEDGE TO PRIORITIZE ON-FIELD SUCCESS AT MANCHESTER UNITED

Jim Ratcliffe, the British billionaire set to acquire a 25% stake in Manchester United, has reassured the club's supporters of his commitment to prioritizing on-field success over financial gains.

British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, who recently agreed to purchase a 25% stake in Manchester United from the Glazer family, has assured the club's supporters that his focus will be on achieving success on the field rather than prioritizing financial gains. As part of the deal, Ratcliffe, the chairman of INEOS, is set to assume control of football operations at the Premier League club, pending official approval in February.

Having attended his first United match since the agreement, sitting alongside former manager Alex Ferguson during the recent 2-2 draw against Tottenham, Ratcliffe, a Manchester-area native and lifelong United fan, returned to Old Trafford to engage with fan representatives and local leaders. He met with members of United’s Fans’ Advisory Board, leaders of the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust (MUST), and held a video meeting with the larger Fans’ Forum.

In these discussions, Ratcliffe emphasized his commitment to prioritizing success on the pitch and expressed his view of the club as a "community asset," stressing that his involvement is not driven by financial motives. MUST, in a statement, conveyed Ratcliffe's message that everything at United should be geared towards creating winning teams and building a strong partnership with the fans to support success.

The meeting with MUST, which lasted over an hour, included the participation of INEOS director of sport Dave Brailsford, INEOS Sport chief executive Jean Claude Blanc, and senior United officials. Following this, Ratcliffe and his team engaged with a variety of local leaders to explore United’s role in the community and the potential development of Old Trafford, which has faced increasing dilapidation in recent years.
