BREAKING NEWS: DROWNING INCIDENT CLAIMS TWO LIVES IN OGUN STATE

Two individuals, Femi Akinola and Tunde Falade, drowned while swimming in a river in Ogun State, Nigeria. They had traveled from Lagos to attend a church inauguration and were rushed to a nearby hospital but were pronounced dead upon arrival.

Two individuals, Femi Akinola and Tunde Falade, tragically lost their lives after drowning in a river where they had gone for a swim on Monday. The incident occurred in Ogun State, Nigeria. According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the victims, who had traveled from Lagos to attend the inauguration of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Onikoko, were rushed to Ifo General Hospital but were pronounced dead upon arrival.

 

The police spokesperson stated that a church member named Adebayo Adeosun reported the incident to the police station at around 6:30 pm. Adeosun explained that a group of seven boys, including Akinola and Falade, had left the church premises to swim and tragically drowned in the process. The victims were identified as Femi Akinola, 32, from Odo Eran, Itire, Lagos State, and Tunde Falade, 35, from Kola Alagbado, Lagos.

 

After being rescued from the strong tides, Akinola and Falade were immediately taken to the Health Centre in Itori. Unfortunately, a medical doctor on duty at the center confirmed their deaths. The police were informed of the incident, and the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olayemi Jacob, dispatched a team to the scene. Upon investigation, the DPO found no signs of violence or foul play.

 

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with swimming in unfamiliar waters. It is essential for individuals to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines when engaging in water-related activities. The authorities have urged the public to prioritize their safety and take necessary precautions to prevent such unfortunate incidents from occurring in the future.
