MINISTER TAKES ACTION ON UNPAID SALARIES CRISIS AT OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Ali Pate, has taken action to address the crisis of unpaid salaries at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The Director, Media and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Patricia Deworitshe, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.

 

According to the statement, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare is fully cognizant of the ongoing crisis at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) concerning the issue of unpaid staff salaries. In response to the directive of the Honourable Coordinating Minister, Muhammad Ali Pate, a Joint Action Committee has been established to investigate the matter.

 

The statement further indicated that the committee's findings would be made public within the next 10 days, along with clear recommendations on how to achieve a fair and equitable resolution to the problem. It emphasized the ministry's concern for the individuals affected by the unfortunate situation and urged for patience, assuring that they are committed to thoroughly addressing the matter and preventing its recurrence in the future.

 

In a separate report from November, it was disclosed that some medical workers at OAUTH had confronted the management, alleging that they had been subjected to financial hardship due to over 10 months of unpaid salaries.
