The Osun State Police Commissioner, Bzigu Kwazhi, has revealed that a rape victim, allegedly assaulted by a celestial church Pastor known as Kayode, is currently in stable condition. The incident reportedly occurred when the Pastor, operating from his church located in his residence in the Ijebu-Ojeda area of Oriade local government, purportedly assaulted the victim, Yemisi, under the pretext of warding off a spiritual attack on January 4, 2024.

Addressing journalists at his office in Osogbo, the Commissioner of Police stated that he has instructed the Deputy Commissioner for Police in charge of crime investigation to expedite the probe into the matter in order to arraign the suspect in court. He emphasized the police's commitment to addressing criminal issues and acknowledged the challenges posed by the ongoing strike by the Osun chapter of the Judiciary workers, which is affecting the arraignment of suspects. However, he assured that the police force is working in collaboration with the Attorney-General to resolve these critical legal matters.

In his statement, the Commissioner said, "I was informed of a rape case involving a pastor, and I immediately instructed the personnel to take action and apprehend the suspect. The case is currently under investigation by the Deputy Commissioner of Police CID, to whom I have given directives to promptly prepare the case file for my review. Subsequently, the parties involved will be brought before me for an interview, and the matter will be presented in court. At present, the victim is in stable condition, and we are awaiting the completion of the investigation to proceed with the legal process."
