ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS BAN ON ACCM ANNUAL CONVENTION AMID LEADERSHIP CRISIS

The Abia State Government has reaffirmed its decision to prohibit the annual convention of the Apostolic Christian Church Mission (ACCM) in Aba due to an ongoing leadership crisis within the church.

The Abia State Government has restated its earlier decision to prohibit the annual convention of the Apostolic Christian Church Mission (ACCM) in Aba. This ban, which has been in effect for some time, is a response to the ongoing leadership crisis within the church.

The ACCM's annual convention, traditionally held in Aba every January, has been affected by the internal turmoil within the church. In light of this, the state government had previously imposed a ban on the church's 2024 annual convention.

Apostle K.C. Wiper, the Special Assistant on Religious Matters to Governor Alex Otti, released a statement addressing the situation. He highlighted that the state government became aware of a publication on the church's Facebook page claiming that the governor had recognized a General Overseer for the church and sanctioned the annual convention. Wiper clarified that Governor Alex Otti has not endorsed the lifting of the ban on the 2024 annual convention, nor has he approved any individual as the General Overseer.

He emphasized that it is crucial to clarify that the Governor does not play a role in the selection of leadership for the church, or any religious institution for that matter.
