Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has suggested that the Federal Government should acknowledge traditional religion and allocate responsibilities to its followers. He made this statement during the New Year traditional prayer session organized by the Traditional Religion Worshippers Association of Osun State at the Government Secretariat in Abere. The 2024 New Year divine revelations of the Ifa oracle were also disclosed during the event.

Represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, the governor urged adherents to remain dedicated to their religion and emphasized the need for leaders of different faiths to embrace tolerance for the sake of peace. He stressed that traditional religion is not associated with ritual killings or criminal activities.

In his address delivered in Yoruba, he emphasized the importance of commitment to one's religion and called for the government to recognize and assign responsibilities to practitioners of traditional religion. He advocated for mutual respect among followers of different faiths, emphasizing the need for religious tolerance, especially among leaders.

Additionally, the Oluwo of Iwo, Abdulrosheed Akanbi, expressed support for Adeleke's second term in office, while the governor highlighted his administration's achievements in areas where opposition party members had doubted his success. These statements were made during an inter-religious service held at the state secretariat in Osogbo to usher in the new year.
