The first girl was born at 23:59 (2259 GMT) on December 31, while her twin arrived a minute after midnight on January 1. This extraordinary event was confirmed by an official at a hospital in the coastal town of Split, where the births occurred.

Damir Roje, the head of the hospital’s perinatology department, described the situation as truly unusual. He mentioned that while he had witnessed twins being born on different days previously, it was the first instance in his professional career where twin babies were born in different years.

The minute time difference in their births means that the family will have the unique experience of celebrating one girl’s birthday on New Year’s Eve and the other girl’s birthday on New Year’s Day. This rare occurrence has undoubtedly created a memorable and distinctive start to the lives of these twin girls.
