Mrs. Priscilla Otti, the wife of the Governor of Abia State, has urged nursing mothers to embrace exclusive breastfeeding for the well-being of their babies during the first six months of their lives. She made this call on Monday while celebrating the arrival of the first baby of the year at Okpulor Ukwu Health Centre in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of the state. The baby, named Jethro Ikechukwu and weighing 2.5kg, was born at precisely 12:02 am on January 1, 2024.

Additionally, she encouraged parents to dedicate significant time to instilling good morals in their children.

The manager of the health centre, Ms. Ihesienye Uloaku, expressed gratitude to the governor's wife for her kind gesture towards the baby and for choosing the health centre for her visit. Meanwhile, the father of the baby, Mr. Albert Ikechukwu, from Mbubo in Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia State, expressed his joy and appreciation for Mrs. Otti's support, including her payment of the hospital bills and the gifts she bestowed upon them.

In a separate visit, Mrs. Otti also attended the state hospital at Amachara in Umuahia, the capital city, where she welcomed the second and third babies of the year, whom she named Ihuoma and Nmesoma, respectively. She presented them with gifts and cash donations, emphasizing that these children were the first gifts given to Abia by God in 2024.
