Mr. Joseph Evah, the Coordinator of the Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG), recently expressed his deep admiration for the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, referring to him as a contemporary champion of restructuring in Nigeria. In a statement, Evah lauded Akeredolu as a genuine democrat who will be fondly remembered by all Nigerians. He emphasized the late governor's unwavering commitment to democracy, good governance, and the rule of law, stating that Akeredolu's passing at the age of 67 came as a profound shock.

According to Evah, Akeredolu's legacy as a true democrat who tirelessly advocated for the advancement of democracy and the rule of law will endure. He highlighted Akeredolu's pivotal role in establishing the Western Security Network, also known as Amotekun, in response to security challenges posed by marauding Fulani herdsmen in the South West. Evah praised Akeredolu's indomitable spirit and his vision for a better Nigeria, acknowledging the significant void left by his untimely departure.

The Ijaw leader lamented that Akeredolu's passing has deprived Nigeria of a genuine patriot, expressing concern that this loss may impede the country's progress. He underscored Akeredolu's courage and determination, asserting that Nigeria would benefit from the presence of more individuals with his spirit and resolve. Evah extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Ijaw people to Akeredolu's family, political allies, and the people of Ondo State, wishing for the late governor's soul to rest in peace.
