President Bola Tinubu recently met with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) at his residence in Lagos, where he emphasized the shared responsibility of the federal and sub-national governments in ensuring the peace and stability of the country. During the meeting, he condemned the recent killings in Plateau State and directed security agencies to put an end to the violence in the region, particularly in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas.

Tinubu expressed his condolences to the victims and stressed the sanctity of human life, calling for a shift in mindset among those with differing beliefs and warning them about the consequences of their actions. He underscored the importance of peace and stability for Nigeria's progress, emphasizing that the nation belongs to all its citizens and must be cared for collectively.

The President also acknowledged the presence of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State at the meeting, commending him for his efforts to peacefully resolve political challenges in his state. He highlighted the significance of peace for effective governance and discussed the 2024 Budget proposals before the National Assembly, emphasizing the need for joint responsibility and closer collaboration between the federal and sub-national governments to drive infrastructural development across the nation.

Tinubu called for a unified approach to development, urging the prioritization of children and the swift reinstatement of the school feeding program at all levels of government. He stressed the importance of protecting and preparing the nation's youth for the future. The Chairman of the NGF and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, expressed solidarity with the government and people of Plateau State, affirming state governments' support for the reforms initiated by Tinubu's administration despite the challenges faced, particularly in the wake of the removal of fuel subsidies.
