In a distressing turn of events, Mrs. Nguhemen Sesugh, a businesswoman from Gboko Local Government Area (LGA) in Benue state, has been allegedly murdered by conmen who then buried her remains in a shallow grave. The victim, known for trading in bags of rice, was lured to Kendev, Mbatie in Buruku LGA under false pretenses by her assailants, who claimed to have bags of unmilled rice for sale.

According to a source in Gboko, Mrs. Sesugh, who operated at the Gboko rice mill, received a call from her murderers offering rice for sale. Unaware of their criminal intent, she ventured to the farm with a substantial sum of money to make the purchase. Tragically, she never returned. Despite extensive efforts to locate her, she remained missing until a recent investigation by security personnel led to the discovery of her decomposing body in a shallow grave at Kendev village, Mbatie in Buruku LGA. The cash she had taken for the purchases was also missing.

Subsequent investigations resulted in the arrest of several individuals, including two brothers who are believed to have orchestrated her murder. The police are currently conducting further inquiries to unravel the full extent of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following the discovery, Mrs. Sesugh's decomposing body was transported to her village, Tsambe in Vandeikya LGA, by close family members and a former House of Representatives member from the area, who ensured she received a proper burial.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Catherine Anene, stated that she had not yet received the full report of the incident. The community is left in shock and mourning as the investigation into this tragic event continues.
