SOUTHERN INDIA GRAPPLES WITH DEVASTATING FLOODS: URGENT NEED FOR CLIMATE ACTION

Intense rainfall in southern India has resulted in devastating floods, leading to the loss of lives and widespread destruction.

Retired Deputy Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Shem Obafiaye, recently clarified why he was not wearing an official kit following his promotion. Despite not being officially adorned with the new position, he explained that he is now retired. This revelation was made during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

Obafiaye, who was promoted to the position of Deputy Commandant-General of the NSCDC by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, was honored alongside two of his colleagues as deputy commandants-general: Fasiu Adeyinka, ex-Kwara commandant, and Raji, ex-Imo commandant. He disclosed that the viral ‘Oga at the Top’ video had a psychological impact on him and that he has now retired from active service.

Contrary to reports, Obafiaye clarified that he was not sacked but rather redeployed. He emphasized that after the interview, he was simply asked to rest by his commandant general before being moved to the Oyo State Command. Obafiaye rose to prominence in Nigeria after a memorable interview on Channels Television in 2013, during which he became known for the phrase "Oga at the top."

The interview quickly went viral on social media, and Obafiaye even obtained a patent for the slogan. He humorously mentioned that anyone using the phrase "Oga At the Top" without permission would have to pay.
