SOMALIAN AMBASSADOR SEEKS NIGERIA'S SUPPORT FOR CHANCERY IN COURTESY VISIT TO FCT MINISTER

Somalian Ambassador Jamal Mohammed Barrow has sought the support of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, in establishing a stronger presence for Somalians in Nigeria.

Somalian Ambassador to Nigeria, Jamal Mohammed Barrow, has appealed to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to assist in making Nigeria a second home to Somalians. Barrow made this plea during a courtesy visit to Wike on Thursday, expressing his country's unsuccessful attempts over the past three years to secure land for building its Chancery in Nigeria.

Barrow highlighted the historical ties between Somalia and Nigeria, emphasizing Somalia's admiration for Nigeria as a significant role model. He also mentioned Somalia's efforts to recover from the devastating impact of armed conflict and expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with Nigeria.

"We want you to assist us in creating a cooperation between the two capital cities. As you know, there is a long history of friendship between Somalia and Nigeria; they have been friends. The second thing is that for the past three years, we have been trying to get Chancery land in Abuja. Unfortunately, we have gone through all the processes, the file was on the Minister’s table for approval, but we couldn’t get it. So we are asking that you approve the Chancery land; we want Nigeria to be our second home," Barrow stated.

In response, Wike assured the ambassador that he would promptly review the land application file and facilitate the necessary ministerial approval. "We are here to make things comfortable for our guests. Whatever you think that FCT will do, do not hesitate to let us know. We are always willing to cooperate with our guests, particularly foreign missions," Wike affirmed. He added, "We will immediately call for the file so that you can have it approved and start building your Chancery."
