NORTHERN HOUSE CAUCUS PLEDGES N350M TO REBUILD BOMBED COMMUNITY

The Northern caucus of the House of Representatives has pledged N350 million to assist the Federal Government in rebuilding Tudun Biri, a community in Kaduna State that was accidentally bombed by the Nigerian Army.

The Northern caucus of the House of Representatives has announced its commitment to provide N350 million to support the Federal Government in the reconstruction of Tudun Biri, a community in Kaduna State that was mistakenly bombed by the Nigerian Army. The intended target of the bomb was to flush out bandits from Tudun Biri, but it tragically hit the wrong location, resulting in the deaths of approximately 120 innocent people and causing injuries to many others.

Led by Alhassan Doguwa, the Northern House caucus expressed its solidarity with the affected families and survivors and declared their intention to visit the area to offer their condolences. In a statement personally signed by the Kano lawmaker, the group strongly condemned the incident and affirmed their readiness to assist the government in restoring normalcy to the area.

The assistance pledged by the caucus includes funding for various developmental projects such as healthcare facilities, classrooms, water boreholes, and a community town hall, all valued at N350 million. Additionally, the caucus announced a monetary donation of N45 million in cash from the Speaker and the Northern regional caucus of the Federal House of Representatives.

While acknowledging the dedication of the Nigerian military and other security agencies in combating insurgency, banditry, and criminal activities, the lawmakers expressed concern over the ongoing violent activities perpetrated by bandits and other criminal elements across the country.

In response to the tragic incident, the caucus resolved to visit Tudun Biri on Monday, 11th November, 2023, to offer their condolences and gain firsthand insights into the situation, with the aim of gathering valuable information to prevent similar occurrences in the future. They also commended the prompt response of the Federal Government, led by Tinubu, in reaching out to the victims and taking charge of their welfare.

Furthermore, the caucus pledged to work with the Federal Government to ensure that appropriate compensations are provided to the victims and the affected community, as promised by the government. They expressed their commitment to establishing the necessary legal framework for the compensation and ensuring that the families of the deceased are adequately included in the compensation scheme.

Finally, the caucus appealed to the affected community and its leaders to remain calm and law-abiding, while expressing gratitude to the Government and the Governor of Kaduna State for fulfilling their responsibility of maintaining law and order in the state.
